You aren’t inadequate.

I’ve noticed that many people tend to be overly critical of themselves, and I want you to know that it’s okay if you’re not perfect at something. It takes time and practice to improve, so don’t be too hard on yourself if you don’t get it right the first few times. It’s common for people to feel anxious or self-conscious at the gym, worrying that others are watching and judging them. You might be concerned about someone observing your form or criticizing your weight, whether you feel too heavy or too thin. Personally, I don’t experience gym anxiety, but I do struggle with comparing myself to others more than I’d like. Sometimes I get frustrated when I feel like I’m not making progress as quickly as I’d like, and I find myself disliking my body just because I see someone else doing a great job. It’s important to remember that your worth is not tied to your appearance. You should be proud of the effort you put in to improve your health and fitness, but your body is only a part of who you are. It will change over time, and that’s okay. Don’t let negative thoughts about yourself hold you back from trying new things. Don’t be afraid to try a new workout just because you don’t feel like you fit in. One of my own insecurities is running, especially since I’ve started lifting weights and have developed larger quads and a higher body fat percentage. But I still run five times a week because I enjoy it, even if I don’t always feel great about how I look. If there’s an activity that you’re interested in but feel insecure about starting, I encourage you to give it a try anyway. You might feel silly or awkward at first, but that’s okay. You’ll never improve if you don’t try new things and stick with them. Remember that just because you’re new at something doesn’t mean you’re inadequate. And just because you’re not perfect at something doesn’t mean you should give up. Keep working hard and doing your best, and I’m proud of you for making an effort to improve yourself.
