Pretty guys and girls walk.

Physical activity is a crucial aspect of maintaining good health, and walking is one of the simplest and most effective forms of exercise. In my humble opinion, it is also one of the most enjoyable and accessible forms of cardiovascular fitness. Walking is low impact and easy on your joints, it promotes blood flow, lowers stress, and can be a great way to clear your mind. Whether you listen to music, podcasts, or simply enjoy the sounds of nature, taking a walk can offer a host of physiological and mental benefits.

Unfortunately, many people do not get enough physical activity in their daily lives. The average American takes only 3000-4000 steps per day, which is far below the recommended daily amount. While there is no specific number of steps that guarantee good health, experts suggest aiming for at least 7000 steps a day and working your way up from there. Personally, I find that I feel best when I get about 12500 steps per day. Of course, everyone’s needs are different, and some days may require more or less activity than others.

Walking is particularly useful for people who are new to exercise or who may not have the time or resources to go to the gym regularly. Even a short 15-minute walk can be a great way to get your heart rate up and improve your overall health. Plus, walking is an excellent way to increase your NEAT (Non-Exercise Activity Thermogenesis), which is the energy you expend during everyday activities like cleaning, cooking, and walking. So, whether you’re looking to lose weight, improve your cardiovascular health, or simply add more movement to your day, walking is an excellent place to start.

Unfortunately, some people discount the value of walking as a form of exercise. While it is true that resistance training and other forms of exercise are also important, walking should not be overlooked. Even a short walk can offer significant health benefits, and it is a great way to ease into a more active lifestyle. I encourage you to make time for yourself and prioritize your health, even if it means starting small. You don’t have to drop all of your other responsibilities to make time for exercise, but finding ways to incorporate physical activity into your daily routine can lead to significant improvements in your overall well-being. Remember, every step counts, and every effort you make to improve your health is worth it.
