Being scared is a waste of time.

What are you scared of?
Many people operate out of fear. We work so we can eat, study to get a job, and date because we are scared of being alone. We lose or gain weight because we attribute the consequence of beauty to love.
If this doesn’t sound like you, skip this one, but you may feel driven by fear if you are like me. Your motivation comes from the idea that if you don’t do it, then you are worthless. If this paper comes out ideally, it will prevent your whole future from failing; if this text is not written just right, then every relationship you have will suffer.

Do not let fear be your driving factor. It is healthy to have a little anxiety attached to tasks because many of us require a little push to move forward, but if fear is the only thing pushing you forward, then you will not be able to maintain your progress, and when you experience a plateau, you risk putting yourself in a dark place.

Do great things because you want more, not fear being less. One thing that I constantly have to remind myself is that there are a lot of things in this world that are not that serious. That conversation you have to have with a friend that favors you want to ask or that small task you have to do that you’ve been putting off for months is genuinely not that important in the grand scheme of things.

I believe that many people use the small problems in their lives to distract them from the bigger issues at hand, and instead of problem-solving a way to fix them, we get overwhelmed by the idea that some things are just not in our control.

This is where self-reflection becomes crucial. Focus on the grand picture; look at what you want to achieve. If you want to lose weight, that is amazing, and I would love to help you on that journey, but I encourage you to dig a bit deeper. Why do you want to? Is it to feel better about yourself, to find love, to mend an old relationship? When you look at it that way, you see that while losing weight may be a great first step for you, you are not truly addressing the problem at hand.

Look at the problems in your life and see if you are solving them with a fear mindset. Do not run from your problems and rush to make quick-fix solutions that you end up causing more problems to deal with. There are things in life that you are unable to control, and the fear of uncertainty can throw a lot of people over the edge. But remember, you have the power of self-control.

Look at what you can control – your actions and reactions – and see how you can focus on what is important to you. Have an abundant mindset, want more, and don’t be afraid of having less.
Things in life will fail but do not blow things out of proportion. Every failure is just one step closer to the solution.
